Thinking of standing as a councillor? Council launches information campaign
Shetland votes for its next councillors in May 2027. Shetland Islands Council has launched its 'Who stands for the Council? It's people like you' campaign to encourage people from all walks of life to consider standing. A new handbook explains what councillors do, who can stand, the support available to elected members and how to become a candidate, and there will be video interviews with current councillors.
